✅ What is DTF Printing?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) is a printing process where designs are first printed onto a special PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film using DTF inks (usually water-based pigment inks). The design is then transferred to fabric using heat and pressure.

🛠️ How the DTF Process Works

 

  • Design Creation:

    • You create a digital design using graphic software (like Photoshop or Illustrator).

  • Printing to Film:

    • The design is printed onto a DTF transfer film using a DTF printer.

    • A layer of white ink is usually printed last to serve as a base.

  • Apply Adhesive Powder:

    • A special hot-melt powder is applied to the printed film while the ink is still wet.

    • This powder acts as a glue during the transfer.

  • Curing:

    • The powder is melted (using a heat press or oven) to form a bonding layer.

  • Transfer to T-shirt:

    • The film is placed on the T-shirt, and heat-pressed at around 300°F (150°C) for 10–20 seconds.

  • Cold Peel:

    • The film is allowed to cool before peeling it off, leaving the design on the fabric.

  • Final Press (optional):

    • Sometimes, another short press is done for better adhesion and feel.
